WHAT IS FEMINIST FRIDAY?
Feminist Friday is a celebration of the people who have contributed in some way to the betterment of all humanity, yet tend to remain unseen by society at large. Feminist Friday started at the beginning of 2019 on the CAISA Facebook page when searching for #FeministFriday yielded sparse results (I'm not saying I popularized the hashtag; I'm just saying I might be a trendsetter). Over the years, FF has grown and expanded, and after a short break, I'm back with a new format, baby! So join me on the first Friday of every month as we honor an incredible person from all throughout history!

Feminist Friday strives to be inclusive. Historically, women of color (especially Black women), Trans* people, queer people, and those not on the binary gender spectrum have been erased, or had their stories altered to fit in a narrow box of "acceptability". FF will not do that.

Some people we highlight from history have some...problematic aspects. FF will make sure to acknowledge those problems, and will always remind you that the blog, and CAISA, does not endorse hatred or bigotry in any form.
ABOUT CAISA
CAISA (Counseling and Information for Sexual Assault/Abuse) is a certified Rape Crisis Center located in Robinson, IL. We are a satellite office of SACIS, located in Charleston, IL. Between our Charleston, Robinson, and Olney, IL locations, we serve 8 counties: Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Edwards, Jasper, Lawrence, Richland, and Wabash. Hey! My name is Rachel Carter, the Administrative Specialist of Volunteer and Prevention Services for CAISA! I've been with the organization for almost 5 years now, and have lived in Robinson all my life. I'm 36, I live with my partner of 19 years and our 4 cats. I am a graduate of the University of Maine at Augusta, where I got my BS in Library Science. I love all things nerdy (especially Star Wars), crochet, and theater. But mostly, I love sharing the knowledge I gain in the course of my work!
